The 2013 Mazda Protege comes in three versions: the Protege DX, LX and ES. Each model has a 2.0L DOHC 16-Valve 4 cylinder Engine 130 hp/135 lb-ft engine and comes standard with 5-speed manual overdrive transmission.

For safety the 2013 Mazda Protege line offers a computer-designed, steel-reinforced "safety cage" framing with front and rear crumple zones.

All 2013 Mazda Protege models come as a front wheel drive with rack and pinion steering with variable power assist. Independent front strut suspension and independent rear twin-trapezoidal link (TTL) suspension.

The 2013 Mazda Protege 5 comes with a 2.0L DOHC 16-Valve 4 cylinder Engine 130 hp/135 lb-ft SFTP & ULEV-A compliance and a 5-speed manual transmission. Also included as a standard feature is power-assisted 4-wheel disc brakes.

For security the 2013 Mazda Protege 5 has Power door locks w/two-stage unlocking feature (driver's side) and driver's side front door central locking.

The Mazda Protege Mazdaspeed offers a 2.0 liter DOHC, 16 valve I4 engine. And a Garrett T25 turbocharger with air-to-air intercooler. Sport-tuned high-flow stainless steel exhaust system. Five-speed manual transmission. Suspension with Tokico dampers, 17-inch
alloy wheels and a Kenwood 450-watt audio system.
